A fully digital end-to-end process for permits to work
Quentic is expanding its Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) software offering to include a new ‘Control of Work’ module. The latest major update to Quentic added this new module, which allows users to digitally create, manage and monitor permits to work. Permits to work ensure that non-routine work, such as maintaining industrial assets, is safely handled by employees and contractors alike. The fully digital process effectively streamlines EHS procedures and enhances compliance with various relevant norms, such as the ISO 45001 standard. Control of Work seamlessly integrates with other offerings from the modular Quentic platform.
Software as a Service provider Quentic introduces the new Control of Work module to its platform for Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). At the core of the new functionalities is a component that allows users to create, manage and monitor permits to work directly in the Quentic platform.
Bringing safety and safeguards to the frontline with permits to work
The Control of Work module streamlines the entire permit to work process, from creation to approval to activation. Permits to work, a widely accepted and commonly used industry standard, ensure safe handling of non-routine work, such as maintaining industrial assets, and are an important safety document for both regular employees and hired contractors. Adding this functionality to the set of Quentic modules, bridges the gap between EHS management and operational work by bringing vital safeguards directly to frontline workers.
Information about risks, safeguards, hazardous materials and safety measures are to a large extent already managed in the Quentic Core, Health & Safety, Hazardous Materials or Legal Compliance modules. The Permit to Work component accesses and compiles available information to create context-relevant permit documents in a step-by-step process. Additional information, such as emergency details, or Lockout Tagout (LoTo) documents, can be added at the user’s discretion. Managing permit documents digitally streamlines the procedures around getting approval and enacting changes, connects involved parties instantly and allows for real-time oversight of ongoing activities. This increases productivity while minimizing paperwork and waiting times.
Enhancing compliance with ISO 45001
Control of Work is an important aspect of contractor safety management. The ISO 45001 standard obligates organizations to ensure that their safety requirements are consistently met by both contractors and employees. Permits to work are an efficient way to facilitate this process. In combination with other Quentic modules, such as Health & Safety, Online Instructions, Hazardous Materials, Legal Compliance and Risk & Audits, the new Control of Work module further increases an organization’s compliance with ISO requirements.
